Something in Rogue deflates at the sight of him standing there like that, very clearly going through something emotionally difficult, something taking more out of him than this entire battle. It's not hard to put together that this woman he was talking about was someone he'd cared about deeply, perhaps even loved, was someone he'd lost.

In a split-second decision, she reaches out with a hand, too distracted to realize that it's her bare one, and applies a gentle pressure to his upper arm. A gesture of sympathy, not pity. "I'm sorry that I'm not her." And then she starts to pull her hand away, intending to return it safely to her side.
