Rogue curled against him, and Steve's face crumpled in confusion, but he wasn't on the edge of panic anymore. She didn't sound upset, and he trusted Rogue to tell him if something were wrong, or at the very least she'd tell him she couldn't say; but she'd never outright lie to him about something, not like this.
"O-okay," he stuttered slightly, sliding his hand along her cheek and back to cup her head, his fingers tangling in her hair. Taking a slow breath, he said a little more firmly, "Okay. I'm glad it was perfect." He hoped she really meant it - because he planned on doing this any chance she let him.
