theycalledmeacurse: (listening)

Rogue reached for the remote while Steve had his 'conversation', turning the volume down on the television so he wouldn't have a laugh track in the background. It had the only slightly intended side effect of allowing her to hear the tone of the man on the other end of the line, which perfectly matched Steve's description of Nick Fury.

She didn't bother to hide that she was listening to at least Steve's end of the conversation, because he was standing right there and if he hadn't wanted her to hear, he would have gone to the other room. Apparently Fury wanted Steve to make some appearances as Cap - it would be good for the city to see him, she had to admit, but she completely understood Steve's preference for his army uniform over his superhero costume. And she couldn't help but bristle at a little at the idea of having to give up part of the holiday with him, even if it would just be the morning.

"He sure sounds like everything you said, sugar," she commented quietly, staying where she was on the couch but keeping her eyes on Steve, waiting for a sign of what she could do to help him. "What're you thinking about all of this?"
