Steve's shoulders slumped at Rogue's words, and before he realized what he was doing, he was back on the couch, pressing his face against her neck and inhaling her unique scent.
"I'm thinking... I have no clue. I think..." He pulled back a little, taking a deep breath. "I think I do want to march in the Remembrance Day parade--uh, Veterans' Day. But not as Captain America. I don't want it to be some kind of publicity stunt, no matter how well-intentioned. It would just take away from what the holiday stands for. Besides, I'll be commemorating the soldiers I fought with, same as everyone else. Maybe I just wanna be a part of something, that day." He shrugged, avoiding Rogue's eyes, uncomfortable discussing it so frankly, despite all they'd already been through. Serious topics like this, discussing his more intense emotions, were still hard for him.
"As for Thanksgiving... I mean, it would be kinda neat to march in the Macy's Day parade. But I know you were wanting to celebrate Thanksgiving, so I don't wanna take away from that." He looked at Rogue, almost shyly, and asked, "What're your thoughts?"
