Calling him 'soldier', and especially in that tone of voice, made Steve inhale sharply, before gulping a little nervously; without conscious thought, he sat up straighter, his entire body tensing in anticipation, although he wasn't entirely sure why.
Unable to take his eyes away from hers, he shook his head minutely and answered automatically, "No, ma'am."
