It was an automatic reaction to avoid touching someone without their permission,rather than bring a result of the result of actively looking or not looking for her Someone. Such a thing didn't occur to her, and so it was a complete surprise when she felt that rightness rush through her, just the way her mother had described it all those years ago.

Marie stared at the man across the counter, confusion written across her expression. Her mouth opened to say something, but the words wouldn't come out. Taking a shallow breath, she set the flowers down and took hold of the ribbon to finish her work, though her hands shook slightly.

This was not how she'd expected her day to go.
