The worst soulmate ever would have been someone cruel who felt she was more property than person. It was rare for a relationship to turn possessive to the point of violence, but it did happen. (Though perhaps more than anyone knew, since it likely wasn't the sort of thing to be discussed in public.) If her soulmate was someone who appreciated her as an independent person, with the right to thoughts and feelings of her own, then she would consider herself lucky.
