He actually wanted me to go out tonight with him. 'You never have enough fun, Stevie,'" he paraphrased, in a rather close proximity to Bucky's usual cajoling drawl. "Boy, is he gonna be surprised."
'Surprised' probably severely underrated how shocked - and delighted - Bucky would end up being when he met Marie.
