Years of watching her mother suffer, never getting any better despite the treatments the doctors tried, and those final months of her wasting away... The memories still haunted her. The answer was easy. Yes.
Lifting a hand to Steve's jaw, she gave him a sad, gentle smile. "My mother was ill for many years, I know how hard this is. So I'd like to go with you if you'll let me, Steve. Because I care about you."
Because she cared and because she knew that this wouldn't be easy for Bucky, either. If he and Steve had been friends for so many years, then Steve's mother likely meant a great deal to him as well, and she wanted to be there for them both in their time of need.
