Hooking up a DVD player... Okay, to be honest, it was still a lot of fiddly work, but Steve thought he understood it a little better, after basically hovering behind Rogue, watching what she was doing and consulting the manual - not because he doubted her, but just trying to match her actions to the instructions.

But now everything was hooked up, they had a couple drinks, and were settled on the couch, ready to start the movie. Steve glanced at the box cover again, intrigued at the artwork. He wondered if he'd be able to understand anything in the movie, or if it would all be pop culture references that went over his head, like in so many sitcoms and adult movies. He had fairly high hopes, actually; the movie was meant for children, who wouldn't have a wide knowledge of culture, pop or otherwise, like their adult counterparts. Some things may still go over his head, but he figured he'd still enjoy the overall story.

Settling his arm around Rogue's shoulder over the back of the couch and pulling her in to lean against him, Steve held up the remote, pointed it carefully at the DVD player, and pressed Play.

As the movie started, Rogue tried to see it the way Steve might, thinking over each line of dialogue and noticing how many modern references were slipped in, likely to entertain the adults who watched the film with their children. Still, she decided, it was easy enough to follow the general story, especially once they actually got into the mythology of it all.

It was a bit like watching it for the first time for Rogue as well, in the end. She'd seen the movie before, of course, but it hadn't been a huge part of her childhood, growing up the way she had, and so she'd never really watched it with childlike wonder. That was how she saw it now, though, and she was pulled into the experience right along with Steve, laughing at the jokes and drifting on the music.

Watching Aladdin navigate the streets that were his home turf, fending off the guards and seemingly dismissing what everyone said about him... giving his food to children despite surely being hungry himself... Steve very easily started identifying with the story, although he didn't realize it as being similar to his own childhood.

He couldn't help but tilt his head and press a kiss to Rogue's hair as Aladdin started disjointedly exclaiming over Princess Jasmine. "She's got these eyes that just...and this hair, wow...and her smile."

Steve grinned. "I know how he feels," he murmured.

The smile that bloomed across her lips couldn't be contained as she felt that kiss against her hair. She felt so happy that she thought she might burst and it was all his fault. Steve Rogers. The most perfect man in this universe, in her oh so biased opinion.

"Oh, watch the movie, you romantic," she ordered, shoving gently at his shoulder even as she grinned like an idiot. She couldn't imagine going back to a life without him in it.

"Bossy," Steve teased quietly, pulling Rogue closer and settling further into the couch to enjoy the movie.

And he did enjoy it. When Steve watched a movie, he put his full attention to it, becoming as fully immersed as possible. He loved all the songs, enjoyed the Sultan's comedic antics, hated Jafar, and by the end of 'A Whole New World' he was humming along.

He wasn't a fan of Aladdin going back on his promise to the Genie, but stayed quiet, glowering and introspective. By the end of the movie, when Aladdin made the right choice and freed the Genie and sacrificed his own happiness, the Sultan declared that the princess could marry whomever she chose, and (of course) she chose Aladdin, Steve only smiled slightly, but for the most part continued to look speculative, and a little pensive.
